Strength From God's Spirit: Daily Devotional |
Amber was feling a little discouraged. It seemed as if the youth leaders expected a lot. They were always talking about the importance of witnessing to friends, resisting temptations, and loving your enemys. At camp during the summer, the speaker emphasized memorizing Scripture and setting aside time every day to pray and be alone with God. To Amber it seemed livinglikethis would be exhausting. 'How am I supposed to keep up with all this for the rest of my life?' she thought. 'Being a Christian is practically a full time job! I have school, work, chores, extracurricular, and a social life. I'm not sure if I have the energy to keep doing this forever.' "I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strenghten you with power through his Spirit in your inner being" Ephesians 3:16 The devil would like you to believe that living a consistent Christian life is unrealistic. He wants you to give up in discouragement or frustration. It's true that you're not able to live as God expects you to in your own strength. But you can do it with His strength. Thats why God sent his Holy Spirit to empower His children. Through his precious Helper, you can find the strength to do for Him what you could never do on your own. Are you letting Him be your strength, or are you trying to do it on your own? | |||||||||||||||||||
